In every home there is one favourite chair, coveted by all who visit and a triumph for the person who manages to get to it first. It's always been this way. Throughout my childhood every home had one, but it wasn't necessarily easy to predict which chair would be chosen as the favourite. In some homes it was the perfect spot on the couch. In others it was a recliner, and others again it was a 'conversation chair'. In some homes the favourite chair was lush and soft, in others firm and upright. Some belonged to a set and others stood proud like lone wolves. Some were formal, and others were so loved it was hard to tell where a coffee stain ended and a fabric pattern began. For whatever reason the favourite chair was just that, the favourite. As a kid it always felt so special to be granted (or cheeky to nick) the favourite chair... And if I'm being totally honest, it still does.
